This list of "Best Workplaces in Canada" is compiled for Canadian Business magazine by the Great Place to Work® Institute in Canada. The selection process is based on two criteria: responses to an employee survey and results from an external review of organizational culture. Two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees. Organizations are scored in five basic areas: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie. The remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organizations culture including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures.

More than 20,000 employees participated in this first annual survey.
